Everything You Need for Your CBT in Middleton, Greater Manchester

A CBT is the very first thing you need to do if you want to be a motorcyclist. It teaches you the importance of safety when riding , knowledge of the bike, and ensures you have the skills necessary needed to ride safe . CBT – Compulsory Basic Training

The prices for this service are:

  • £100 for Sessions between Monday and Friday
  • £120 for Sessions on a Saturday
  • £25 for 1 hour Taster Sessions
  • £100 for CBT Renewal

The Session

Bikes, a helmet, gloves, and boots are all provided when you come in for your CBT test. The training has five elements, and these are:

  • Introduction – Legal Requirements, Clothing Chat, Eyesight Check at 20 Metres
  • Practical on-Site Training – Machine Controls, Maintenance Chat (on and off the Stand)
  • Practical on-Site Riding
  • Practical on-Road Training – Pre-Road Briefing
  • Practical on-Road Riding – Minimum of Two Hours Riding


The training begins in an off-road environment. You learn the basics of machine control including:

  • Pulling Away
  • Changing Gear
  • Signalling
  • Manoeuvring
  • Stopping Safely

Once you’re confident on the bike, you’re taken for a two-hour ride, communicating with an instructor via radio.

Certificate of Completion

Once your CBT has been successfully completed, you’re given a certificate of completion of an Approved Training Course (DL196). This is valid for two years, at which time you’re required to renew. You’re able to do this with a half-day session, available in the morning or afternoon. The next step after a CBT is your theory test.
