“If you are thinking of learning to ride a motorbike, and especially like me you are a complete novice, this is the best place to go. I contacted Bowlee Riders after completing my CBT twelve months before. I had a bad experience with another school and wanted to get back on the bike, but was a bit scared and very nervous. After speaking to Martin, who advised me the best way to go about completing the Direct Access course, I was happy to pay up front for a block course. Within a month I had passed both my Module 1 and Module 2 the first time! It was all down to Martin, who is the best teacher you could have. He knows his stuff, is passionate about what he is doing, is calm, and puts you under no pressure. We had laughs along the way and it was a great experience. He even put up with the many questions I kept asking (and I did ask a lot), and was very patient. Nothing was too much to ask. The bikes are well maintained and great to ride. The whole team and outfit are very professional. I am now the proud owner of a BMW GS and look forward to touring on it in the future. Thank you Bowlee for giving me a whole new aspect to my life.”

“I’d like to say thanks to Martin at Bowlee for the instruction and training on his Vespa™ T5, which enabled me to pass module one last week and module two this morning; both at the first time of asking! Excellent tips and advice were provided, and time was put aside to give candidates every possible chance of passing. I highly recommend Bowlee to anybody considering taking their bike test, either on a bike or geared Scooter. Once again, many thanks Bowlee, and best wishes.”

“I have just passed my Module 1 and 2 at the first try, and I will be recommending Bowlee Riders to all my friends and anyone that is thinking about doing their CBT or Scooter Licence. I have been riding for quite a few years and had never bothered to take the test. I found everyone at Bowlee to be very professional at all times and very friendly. Thanks you very much - see you at the rallies.”
“My name is Joe and since September 2010 I have been trying to complete the Direct Access training. After trying for two years, and a handful of tests and training schools later, I was ready to give up and call it a day. Then I came across Martin at Bowlee Motorcycle Training.
Martin is an experienced trainer with very good manners, good qualities, great personality, and lots of worldly experiences. He set off to work in getting me up to quality standard for passing my test, all on new, well-maintained motorcycles.
Martin surprised me by totally transforming my style of riding and got me up to standard. I was sure that it would get me a pass, as long as I exercised what he had taught me.
On the September 4th 2012, two years later, my elation was uncontrollable when the examiner told me I had passed. Personally I have a lot to thank Martin for, and I would recommend Bowlee Motorcycle Training to anybody who wants to pass Direct Access or their CBT.”
- Joe, Rochdale
“Thank you for a great day for my son’s birthday. My son really enjoyed the day and came home with a big smile on his face. We had his scooter waiting for him and he went straight out on it. His friends will be in touch soon, thank you.”
- Mrs Dunn, Heywood
“Thank you very much for a brilliant day. Martin was very professional and informative. I’ve already recommended him to my son and we will both be back soon to do our bike test. Thanks for a great day.”
- Mark, Prestwich
“I did my A2 motorbike license with Martin. First we did the module one, cones and car park, which is more difficult than it sounds. I passed this and then I did the module two, road ride, and I also passed that. I now have my A2 license and can take my L plates off.
I can only say that the reason I passed both of these tests was entirely due to Martin’s instruction. He is the most patient, reassuring, professional teacher I have ever met. He never once got irritated, or shouted at me, and believe me, I can be hard work at times. He has a great sense of humour which carries you through when nerves set in or on cold winter nights riding around in the dark. I have learned so much during my training. I can highly recommend this place. If you want to pass your test, and want to enjoy the experience and training, then this is the place to go without a doubt. He operates from a really friendly environment, makes a cup of tea and shares the biscuits. I paid the full amount up front for the training package and tests, and never once was money mentioned again. I have definitely had more than my money’s worth, with plenty of practice, time, and instruction.
This guy is clearly not in it for the money, and his enthusiasm and caring nature really shines through. He is knowledgeable and organised, but relaxed and chilled out. I enjoyed the training so much I almost regret passing my test as I won’t need to go anymore. I did my CBT somewhere in Bolton and the whole experience was awful. I almost gave up half way through.
Who would have thought that I would go on to pass both of my tests first time? Martin is most certainly in the right job and I can only say, don't book anywhere else. This place is the best!”
“I would just like to say a massive thank you to Martin at Bowlee rider for helping me achieve my goal. I'd been a pillion rider for a number of years, going to various bike rallies, and always wished I could ride my own bike. At 52 and lacking in confidence, I thought it was too late until I was told about Bowlee Rider. I went along a dithering wreck and met Martin who had the patience of a saint. I had a taster lesson and Martin filled me with confidence.
A few lessons later I did my CBT and now four months later I have just come back from my first rally in Sheffield on my own bike. I'm buzzing! I can't believe how good it feels! We had really heavy rain on the way back, and thought it would be scary, but all I could hear was Martin’s calm instructions. I got through it no problem and with confidence.
Thanks again Martin, you made it so easy! I'll be back for my module one and two!
- Bernadette, Heywood
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the CBT training. Martin has been absolutely amazing, and a total professional at all times. He is extremely encouraging, understanding, and supportive. It has been really great experience. Thank you!”
“I just wanted to say thank you. I had a really enjoyable day and I’m looking forward to getting out and about once I get my scooter. Martin is an excellent trainer and he made the day very enjoyable. From my initial contact with you, the service I received was excellent. Well done and thank you.”
“Just wanted to say a big thank you to you all, especially Martin for helping me to pass my CBT today. This was the first time I’d ridden a bike and was a little nervous at first, but your team really know how to put people at ease. The whole day was great fun and made me realise I should have done this sooner. I will definitely recommend you to anyone who needs a good, reliable, and professional motorcycle trainer. I will be back to do my full licence before my CBT runs out. I’m hoping to buy a Vespa GTS soon. I wish you all the best and happy biking!”
This information was provided by Greg Walsh, a CBT manager from the Driving Standards Agency.
All covered to a very high standard, good use of Q & A and interaction with the trainees, all of the information delivered was clear & concise & pitched at the correct level for all the trainees.
Excellent element, Martin delivered the lessons to a “textbook” standard. I could offer no advice as to how the element could have been improved as there were no weaknesses in any area. The explanations and demonstrations given at the beginning of each module were clear and comprehensive, but without ever becoming overly long and complicated. Due to the high standard of the lesson delivery there were very few faults committed by the trainees, those faults that were committed were immediately identified and remedied. Also worthy of mention was Martin’s concern for the trainee’s welfare, insisting on the trainees taking regular breaks and drinks to ensure that they were not adversely affected by the very hot weather.
Again, this element was exemplary. The route started off in a nursery area, and the trainees were never pushed beyond their comfort zone. The level of difficulty throughout the road ride was carefully judged to be appropriate for the trainee’s ability level. All required traffic situations were covered, Martin’s radio work was clear, and there were lots of pre-emptive guidance when appropriate. His fault identification, fault analysis, and remedial advice were perfect in all cases.
